- Six Strings - Lost From Hodgson
(Lost From Hodgson - Mirrored Insight)
For the most part, I tend to stay close to the first five frets of the guitar. I think I've mentioned a time or two that I have a gammy left hand, and that translates to a very difficult time holding chord shapes as I move around the neck of the guitar. Cowboy Chord shapes tend to be easy for me to hold, with the exception of the F-Shape chords. That said, there are occasions where crawling well above the fifth fret is sometimes necessary to get the noise out of my head.
That's really what all of this is about. Getting noises out of my head. In this, I am not alone:
This is a great movie in general, but The Edge really nails that sentiment I was expressing above at 1:19 in this clip. Fortunately for me, my wife is very tolerant. ;)
There are days when I'm listening to music and from that music springs an entirely different tune. The question of, "Oh, what would that song have sounded like if they would have gone in a completely different direction with it. LET'S FIND OUT!" That's precisely what happened when I started putting 'Lost From Hodgson' together.
Then the agony of not being talented enough to GET said noise out of your head begins and I remind myself once again how very fortunate I am that my wife is as patient as she is. She puts up with a lot of strange, loud noises.
...Most of them are from the guitar.
